Refugee kids mentor for 7 years
I am writing to express my interest in teaching. With my diverse educational background, hands-on experience in various roles, and passion for teaching, I am confident in my ability to contribute effectively to your team. My journey began with a strong foundation in communication and teamwork skills cultivated during my time at Longfield’s Davidson Heights Secondary School and further honed through my studies in Computer Engineering Technology at Algonquin College. Additionally, my pursuit of a History Major and English Minor at Carleton University and Athabasca University has equipped me with valuable research, analytical, and critical thinking abilities essential for effective teaching. My dedication to education extends beyond the classroom through volunteer work with organizations such as the Anatolian Heritage Federation and Northern Lights Education Services, where I provided mentorship, academic support, and guidance to youth and refugees. These experiences have instilled in me patience, empathy, and a deep appreciation for cultural diversity, qualities that I believe are crucial for fostering a positive learning environment. Furthermore, my professional experiences, including roles in customer service, supervision, and leadership positions at companies such as Ikea, Raindrop Janitorial Services, and Myers Barrhaven Volkswagen, have strengthened my organizational skills, time management skills, and ability to adapt to diverse environments.
